Over the years, my skin has changed. I’ve recently switched to oils because I am dry and sensitive. While I was living in Asia, I had eczema and dermatitis and sweat that would rash. Since I am in NJ and the weather here is different, the rashes and eczema calmed but occasionally I still get itchy scaly skin so I have to be careful with what I put on. I don’t do much drugstore skincare unless it is Aveeno or something gentle made for sensitive skin.
I used Josie Maran’s argan oil for a while and when it first came out, I had it as part of my night routine with the oils. But the line has expanded and now there is a Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil. My skin took to this like butter on toast! After I used one morning, I put on makeup and it glided on nicely without looking greasy. I don’t feel it is excessive in any way for my skin. This however, is a rich texture skincare product, meant for the most sensitive and irritated skin. Oils help restore hydration in our skin by adding an extra barrier. For drier skin, a richer formulation like this cream-like oil definitely helps quench dehydrated types.
If your skin is oily and combination, this might not be suitable. That being said, this product makes an awesome lip balm and dry elbow moisturizer, so it is meant to be multifunctional in its use. Texture – I would compare it to a creamy form of Vaseline but unlike Vaseline, the Josie Maran Argan Infinity Intensive Creamy Oil isn’t laden with any petroleum or harsh chemicals. When applied, it dries and absorbs quickly so the skin does not feel sticky or remotely oily unlike Aquaphor or Vaseline, again if you have dry skin, it will soak it up well. Best part? It is made with natural, no chemical laden ingredients so there is no parabens or petroleum based products at all AND it is cruelty-free, gluten free.
