The Youngblood Cosmetics Contour Palette and Mineral Eyeshadows have been on my test table for several weeks. I’ve been meaning to review them but my skin was on a break. I had a PRP facial with micro needling done in early November. As a result, my skin bruised and peeled for weeks and I couldn’t wear much makeup. But enough of that, I am happy to be back giving you some thoughts on Youngblood Cosmetics, a brand I’ve been loving for a while, as I am the biggest fan of their Luminous Crème Blushes (I use a lot of them on brides and editorial work). The key for me with contours is to blend and to use a fan brush to create your lines to then blend them out.
The Youngblood Contour palette is a six color product that comes in lovely packaging, ideal for those with pale to medium/ dark skin tones. I love the light/ skin/ dark lighter shades as eyeshadows too. In my professional opinion, to contour darker skin tones, I’d add a deeper red/ crimson color to balance the tonality, this is something that is based on my experience working as a makeup artist and how I love to blend my colors. For myself, I used the darkest tones on my skin, photos are from my phone camera during golden hour, 3:30 pm EST.
I applied the Youngblood Contour palette in my eyelids to create a more cohesive look for my smokey eye pairing it with the Youngblood Perfect Pair Mineral Eyeshadow Duo (Virtue) and a dash of Graceful (a blue color). Also, to prove that you can also use an eyeshadow like Youngblood on your brows, I filled mine using the brown color of the Youngblood Perfect Pair Mineral Eyeshadow Duo in Charismatic. Overall, the YB eyeshadows are fantastic, there is some slight fall out but if you put small amounts on your flat eyeshadow brush, it should work out fine and they had good lasting powers.
On my face, I wanted my skin to look as natural as possible with the contour. To achieve such finish, skin texture is key. On cleansed skin, I applied Face Atelier Face Finish generously, by the way this is not just a primer, it is so much more. FA Face Finish is a refreshing spritz infused with cucumber for hydration, I love it. I also put on Sulwhasoo First Care Activating serum where I felt dryness. After, I used the new Make Up Forever Step 1 Hydrating Primer which felt light and smoothing all over. To finish my skin, Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation Color 2 fit the look and covered me well.
