Make Up Forever lipstick releases do not happen often. So when a new Make Up Forever Artist Rouge showed up at my doorstep in a press package, I knew it was big news. I’ve been a Make Up Forever Backstage holder for nearly seven years and have seen the evolution of their lip products, always bringing an element of surprise and sticking to strong pigments, red carpet worthy quality.

I’ve been playing around with my new Make Up Forever Artist Rouge lipsticks and have to say, I am very impressed with the color intensity. First, there is a great range of color and preference. There is MUFE Artist Rouge Mat and MUFE Artist Rouge Creme, one is pretty matte and the other creamy and rich. There is a MUFE Artist Rouge Mat limited edition in red (M401), that’s pretty amazing (see my swatches). I got a total of six lipsticks ranging from nude (C105) and (C211) to fabulous lilac (C502), electric blue (C603) and my favorite (C506).

Pro tip – To ensure your lipstick stays on well, exfoliate before and or make sure your lips are adequately hydrated as dry lips will more than likely fray and look uneven. Blot excess moisture before applying. Apply lipstick and blot, as you go. To truly set the lip, I usually hold a Kleenex close and a dash apply loose powder, this will mattify a creamy lipstick and ensure long lasting power.

Another tip I’d add is mixing your color to either deepen a shade using blue or adding a red+blue mix for a fun fall shade. As far as durability goes, these last about 4 hours with a good setting technique. Lipsticks require a retouch especially after food and drinking.

I think these are great colors, I liked your tip for mixing. I have depotted so many lipsticks and mix to make the perfect shade. I haven’t tried any of these lipsticks yet but now I will!

Norah, your tip about adding blue to red is so smart. I love MUFE and several of these look like fun shades but I know I could never wear them on their own. But the idea of mixing them, now that’s a great idea!

These lipsticks are gorgeous. I wouldn’t wear the teal one myself but even that’s beautiful.

I love the colors, but I would never be able to remember the numbered shades. Something in my brain would rather memorize “dusty rose” instead of C211 😀 Or is that just me?
