Oxy Eye Energizing Treatment at AsterSpring

A little more than a week ago, I was invited to try an Oxyderm Eye Treatment at AsterSpring Singapore. This treatment is ideal for those with dark, puffy circles. As much as I use skincare around my eyes and rest, naturally and most probably genetically I tend to get dark circles in the inner corner of my eyes as well as mild puffiness, some days more than others. It is easy to correct dark circles with concealer but this does not make the problem go away.

Of course I jumped at the opportunity to give this treatment a go. Basically, the Oxyderm Eye Treatment uses a pulsed oxygen injection around the eye area, (it feels more like the tip of a spoonin your eye area, it is gentle, there is no hard pressure or needles whatsoever). First my skin was cleansed thoroughly, and then the eye area is prepped with a gel. Oxygen is then pumped in a calm circular motion all around AND under the eyes, providing deep moisture and oxygen. Oxygen is essential in the stimulation of collagen production, leaving the skin plumped and refreshed. This is a fast acting procedure, there is no extractions or rubbing, it is purely an eye nourishing and brightening eye facial. After, I received a good massage around the shoulder and my eyes/ face were nourished with some fantastic Dermalogica products, lovely feeling (as I am a HUGE Dermalogica consumer and believer).

After a few days, I definitely noticed my eyes being a lot brighter, the puffiness decreased some, overall a nice treatment. I’d highly recommend it to a bride a few days before your big day/ event or a busy lady who may not have the time to get all the rest but needs plumping and brightening. Thank you AsterSprings!

All About Laser Facials Part I

As part of a monthly series, I’ve entered in the foray of laser facials using my own skin as the guinea pig to let you know how it works, results, everything. The good people of PPP a medical laser clinic in Singapore contacted me about getting a treatment to learn more and show my readers what it can do for your skin. Also there will be a free treatment giveaway involved, so stay tuned, comment, like/ dislike, ask. I had lots of questions before I went in to get this done and here is my story:

Being in the makeup industry and over 35 I was a good candidate for trying this out. I showed up to the appointment at Liang Court and was promptly taken inside to get started after a thorough question/ answer period. The Dermatologist explained what it’d feel like, a light tingling sensation, and how the facial benefits everyone if you do it regularly (once a month at least, I was told). After my face was cleaned up, a thick layer of gel was applied all over, I was given a pair of goggles to protect my eyes. As the Dr went over my facial, he noted some dullness, a few blackheads and said to me that although I had great texture, it could improve massively by working from beneath the surface of the skin layer. This procedure works from inside out, tightening, deep cleansing and working on moderate scarring, hyperpigmentation, pimples, etc.

After about 5 minutes, I was done. The fastest facial ever. One of the virtues of this procedure is that unlike extraction non-medical facials which sometimes can be long and painful, the laser is least invasive, it feels like a very light tingle. The Dr walks you through the surface of your face, pointing out the areas that may need a bit more intensity. There was one area around my mouth which had quite a bit of blackheads (I hadn’t had a facial in about a month and a half). After we were finished, the gel was removed/ cleaned and moisturizer with sunblock was applied to my face. FYI -protecting your skin is still required and not to be forgotten no matter what.

How does it feel the next day? My face feels smooth, the texture is nicer, much more rosy than I expected. But don’t think this is a one-time overnight success, in a few months I will continue with this journey and do some photo evidence for you readers. AND, don’t forget what we see in photos today is the poor man’s plastic surgery, the magic of makeup, skincare AND Photoshop skills :)

My Singapore IT things to do

I wanted to share my top must do’s if you’re Singapore and want to try something fun, relaxing, and beauty-inspired. When you feel good inside, you ooze confidence and look your best.

A massage at Qi Mantra - I tried an invigorating Star Blast one-hour massage. Described as a deep intensive acupressure treatment, this massage was heaven sent. My therapist asked me the problem areas and had the best hands ever along with a wonderful approach – this wasn’t an ordinary Asian massage. As a bonus I had a Qi Stimulating ointment shot plus a blast of heat in my shoulders and lower back. I loved the bedside manners, soft towels and general personalized treatment. We have a winner!

A collagen facial at Secrets de Beauty – This is an anti-aging treatment for the face and neck using a Guinot Liftosome serum for one hour! First you’ll get a deep cleanse followed by steaming and clearing out any blackheads/ break outs. What makes this facial so amazing is the hour-long mask combined with a relaxing shoulder and upper back massage, it is a heaven send. Chris Chee is my trusted therapist for a few years now.

Reflexology – Chinese Reflexology involves applying firm pressure in sweeping movements on the various pressure points of the feet with Nivea cream. Before the massage, you soak your tootsies for about ten minutes in a warm footbath so you are nice and clean. This is a very unique experience, your feet will feel soft and silky afterwards, I usually do 30min sessions, cost is about $30. Some of my favorite reflexology haunts are in Lucky Plaza and Holland Village.
