I love manicures. Although I am not as good with nails as I feel with applying makeup, it is fun to try a style that is different from an ordinary manicure. Many times on a commercial or editorial job, I’ve had to do manicures on models so I had to step it up on application. For summertime, Ciaté London created the shell manicure collection, an iridescent style of polishes available in 3 unique colors; ‘She sells sea shells’,’Mermaid you look’ and ‘Wish upon a starfish’. I chose Ciate’s ‘Mermaid you look’, it is a gorgeous purple with glitter to match. LOVE.
When I got the Ciaté London Shell Manicure kit, admittedly I was a little afraid of getting it right but it was super easy. First, I made sure my nails were totally free of any residue and nicely buffed. I also would suggest using a table to get all your little necessities on a flat surface. I used a base coat to help the sea shell glitter and polish stick better. Once the first coat of polish was set, one by one, I started pressing on the glitter onto each individual finger. If you do this as instructed, the whole process is very smooth and hassle-free. After about five minutes, I started cleaning up and making sure the glitter was evenly done on each nail, easy peasy.
The finished product is a lovely manicure. I am a basic with my nails and this Ciate Shell polish is definitely a step above all my previous efforts. BTW, for $25 you get a ton of product and a super fancy manicure that looks textured, glittery and gorgeous.
Each kit contains a 13.5ml Paint Pot, 8g Real Crushed Shells and a funnel to capture any excess spill – simply pour the precious ocean gems onto wet polish and seal with topcoat for your very own coastline creation.
